IND vs AUS 2nd T20I: Statistical preview

After a disappointing show in the first T20I at Vizag, India take on Australia in the second T20I with the series on the line. The presence of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah has strengthened the Indian team but the fact that Aaron Finch’s men were still able to cross the line means Team India has to up the ante at Bengaluru.

Both the teams have plenty to play for in the this second T20I and at the same time there are some personal milestones awaiting and some stats that make this contest even more interesting.

A run feast at Chinnaswamy ? Bowl first a better option?

The average first inning total at Chinnaswamy stadium is 152 in T20Is and the same can be expected today.

Interestingly in all five T20Is played at this stadium, the captain winning the toss has opted to field and all six T20Is played between India and Australia in India so far have been won by the team batting second.

And at this stadium only two times a team batting first has won the match.

Rohit and Dhawan on the brink of personal milestone

Indian opener Rohit Sharma has featured in 299 T20s so far and the IND vs AUS 2nd T20I will be his 300th T20 appearance. The right-hand batsman will be the third Indian to achieve this feat.

MS Dhoni has played the most T20s as an Indian (301) while Suresh Raina (300) is at number two in this list.

At the same time, Rohit has the chance to become the leading six-hitter in T20Is. Martin Guptill and Chris Gayle are at the top with 103 sixes each while the Indian opener has smashed 102 sixes so far. Talking about sixes, MS Dhoni needs just one more six to complete 50 sixes in T20Is.

The Bengaluru T20I will be the 50th T20I for Shikhar Dhawan and he will be the sixth Indian to achieve this feat. However, India might go ahead with KL Rahul and hence only one among Rohit and Dhawan might take the field today.

Glory awaiting Indian bowlers

Jasprit Bumrah has risen astonishingly in international cricket and now he needs only two more wickets to become the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is. He has 51 wickets while Ashwin has 52 wickets.

Yuzvendra Chahal meanwhile has 46 wickets and he needs just four more to become the second joint-fastest bowler to claim 50 T20I wickets alongside Imran Tahir and Rashid Khan.
