Gautam Gambhir backs Rajat Sharma for DDCA President

Veteran Indian team player Gautam Gambhir has taken to Twitter for extending his support for noted journalist and Padma Bhushan awardee Rajat Sharma, who is contesting for the post of DDCA president scheduled for June 30.

Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of India TV has announced his candidature for DDCA President and his team includes Rakesh Bansal, who will fight for the post of Vice President, Vinod Tihara (Secretary), Om Prakash Sharma (Treasurer) and Rajan Manchanda (Joint Secretary)
The DDCA Elections:
The Delhi and District Cricket Association is the governing body for overseeing the cricket activities for Delhi cricket team.
BCCI has given affiliation to the DDCA and this season it would be contesting their first open elections as the President would get elected through a new voting system.

Rajat Sharma in the fray:
Former India cricketers Yashpal Sharma and Chetan Sharma have also extended their support for Rajat Sharma.
Rajat Sharma himself has promised to bring back the glory to DDCA.
While announcing his panel for the elections, he said, “DDCA has given our nation world-class players like Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir. Virender Sehwag, Ashish Nehra and many others. I want to make sure that the process continues.”
He also promised improved infrastructure and ground facilities for budding cricketers.
Justice Vikramajit Sen announced the dates for DDCA elections last month who also scrapped the proxy voting system. Â This year the Delhi and District Association President would be elected through E-voting to ensure transparency in the election process.
