The two cricketing giants are clashing off each other in the five-Test series. Virat Kohli’s men defeated Australia earlier this year at their home and would be looking to create history by beating England at their home for the first time since 2007.
England on the other hand after having tough last few months in the longest format of the game would be looking for redemption and avenge their defeat over India after a 3-1 loss earlier this year.
The first Test match between the nations is evenly poised so far. Half- centuries from KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja has helped Team India take a lead of fifty-plus runs

The dismissal of Rishabh Pant brought Ravindra Jadeja to the crease. The southpaw along with KL Rahul steadied the India ship and notched up 60 runs partnership. England vs India Live, 1st Test: What happened on the first two days of the Test match ?
Team India had a great outing on the Day 1 of the first match between India and England. The hosts won the toss and decided to bat first at Trent Bridge. The pace quartet of Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were spot on and displayed impressive bowling skills to bundle out hosts for just 183 runs.

In reply, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul showed great promise and confidence to put 97 runs opening partnership. However, just on the stroke of lunch on Day 2, Sharma threw his wicket away which triggered the Indian collapse and the momentum was shifted towards England as James Anderson removed Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in the two successive deliveries. Things got even worse when a mix-up between Ajinkya Rahane and Kl Rahul saw the former back in the dressing room for 5 runs.
The rain then played a spoilsport and forced umpires to take early stumps on Day 2.
