Shardul Thakur removes Joe Root

Just when Joe Root was looking threatening, Shardul Thakur, who came into the attack, provided Team India with a much important breakthrough of English skipper. The medium-pacer bowled a delivery that was short of good length and held its line outside off, to which the batsman only managed an inside edge and the ball uprooted the stumps to send Root back in the dressing room for 36.

ENG vs IND Live: Team India all over England in the second session
The Virat Kohli-led side has dominated hosts in the post-lunch session. The visitors had an enthralling session as they removed six English wickets to put the Joe Root-led side in all sorts of trouble. As the player went on the lunch break it seemed that game would end in a draw but every Indian bowler chipped in and took crucial breakthroughs.
Ravindra Jadeja set the tone by removing Haseeb Hameed and then Jasprit Bumrah oozed his master class and removed two wickets in quick succession. The second half of the session was no less of entertainment as Thakur removed the backbone of the English bowling line-up and just on the last delivery before Tea, Umesh Yadav sent Chris Woakes packing for 17 runs.
