Dhoni the answer for number four batting slot says Zaheer

One of the pressing issues for Team India has been the number four batting position. India have tried several players but none has made a mark so far and now former India pace bowler Zaheer Khan feels that MS Dhoni is the perfect fit for the number four batting position.

Zaheer was speaking at a online cricket show when he gave his opinion about India’s batting positions. The former Indian cricketer said that someone has to take the responsibility of number four position and it has to be the wicket-keeper batsman.

Zaheer says experience is needed at number four position

To back his claim Zaheer reminded of India’s past performances. He said that if you take a look at the loses of the Indian team, they haven’t had a good start. Once they haven’t got off to a good start, they haven’t been able to recover from a bad start.

Zaheer added that and you need experience, you need someone who has dealt with such kind of situations and soak in the pressure at that stage, take someone along with him. And that’s something MS Dhoni is brilliant at.

Zaheer backs Dhoni despite his struggles 

However the former Indian captain is going through a rough patch with the bat. He has shown glimpses of his destructive batting but he has on numerous occasions failed to rotate the strike and has been unable to provide the flourish at the end of the innings.

But Zaheer feels that Dhoni’s experience will help him in batting at number four.

India have tried ten batsmen at number four position since the 2015 world cup but they haven’t yet finalised on anyone.

India will look to get some answers from the Asia cup in which India will play Hong Kong on 18th September and Pakistan on 19th September.
