With India reeling at 58/3 at the end of fourth day, the fifth day at The Oval was believed no less than a formality. However kudos to young guns KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, on scoring his maiden test century, who looked fearless and ensured to fight. Rahul and Pant took the test match to the last session with their 200+ runs stand but couldn’t alter the results, thereby losing the last match by 118 runs.
England wrapped up the series by 4-1, but Indian Skipper believes the final scoreline of 4-1 is not a true reflection of how his team competed in the five-match test series. Alike head coach Ravi Shashtri, Virat too believes that the current Indian team is the best side in last 15-20 years. Responding to questions from the media in the press conference after the 4-1 Test series loss to England, Virat Kohli was asked whether he believes his team is really the best Indian side in the last 15 years.
And, here’s how he reacted to the question-

The question was a result of Ravi Shastri’s words prior to the fifth test in which he said that-
“I can’t see any other Indian team in the last 15-20 years that has had the same run in such a short time, and you have had some great players playing in those series.”
During 15 minutes press conference, Indian Skipper Virat Kohli said that people are targeting only one side and ignoring India’s fight.
“The kind of cricket we have played might not show on the scorecard. But both the teams know this series has been competitive one” Kohli said.
Here’s the post match conference-
India now gears up for the Asia Cup 2018 which is scheduled to begin from 15 September in UAE. Regular captain Virat Kohli has been given rest and Rohit Sharma will lead the side in the tournament.
