Though the coronavirus pandemic has put in a halt on mostly everything all around the world, which includes the world of football, transfer speculations continue to grow. When things do get back to normal Jadon Sancho will definitely be one of the hot commodities in the marker.
The forward, who’s recently turned 20 on Wednesday, has burst onto the scene as one of the world’s most prominent prospects since moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2017 from Manchester City.
The young Englishman is being linked to a move to a move to the Premier League with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool sniffing around. It is said that Dortmund would demand more than 100 million pounds, mainly due to his sublime form in the ongoing Bundesliga campaign.
Jadon Sancho has racked up 14 goals, while also registering 15 assisted from just 23 appearances in the German League. Nine games are yet to be played but the Dortmund star man has already surpassed his total number of goal contributions in the season before, which was 12 goals and 14 assists from 34 league games.
Sancho’s recent development and sensational run has made him leapfrog the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Cristiano Ronaldo, Timo Werner and Robert Lewandowski in terms of combined total of goals and assists which is 29. Lionel Messi and Immobile are the only two players across Europe to have better numbers tham Jadon Sancho at the moment.
What makes Sancho look even more special is the fact that he has bagged 60 top-flight goals and assists so far, which is twice as many as what Leo Messi at the same age. To add clarity, Sancho has scored 31 goals at the age of 20, while Messi had scored 26, Cristiano Ronaldo had 16, and Raheem Sterling is a spot behind with 15.
As a matter of fact, the only player to have a higher contribution in goals and assists in the top-flight across Europe in the last decade or so is Kylian Mbappe. The French international had 41 goals, 21 assists, with a combined total of 62, while being just two contributions ahead of Jadon Sancho since 2010/11 to the current date.
Knowing that Sancho is 21 years of age, there is indefinitely further room for improvement which makes him all the more lethal. Some might be right in branding the young English forward as a generational talent or the next big thing.
