ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2018

Afghanistan vs Windies, 21st Match, Super-Sixes

Venue: Harare

March 10, 2018, has another riveting contest in-store as a beleaguered Afghanistan take on Windies.  Here’s a complete analysis of When and Where to watch the fixtures.

Analyzing the teams and the marquee players to watch out for:

Afghanistan

Afghanistan who had come into the tournament after a resounding win over the Windies in the warm-up fixture received a serious jolt to their aspirations of qualifying for the 2019 showpiece event in England after being comprehensively beaten by Scotland and then a team who they’ve beaten in five straight bilateral series, Zimbabwe in a nail-biting encounter.

That Afghanistan is still in the reckoning is basically due to Nepal who beat Hong Kong in their final league-stage encounter. Nepal’s win over Hong Kong meant Afghanistan qualified int the super-six stage on behest of a superior run-rate. They now take on the Windies who are coming off a successful league-stage where they all of the four games. Rashid Khan came into his own after an indifferent start to the tournament with a 3-wicket haul in the previous game against Hong Kong and he would once again hold the key for the Afghans.

On the batting front, Rahmat Shah (46) and Zadran (52) had a decent outing against Hong Kong and them along with Mohammad Shahzad, who is expected to return after serving a 2-match ban will be the cornerstone for Afghan’s success against the Windies.

Probable XI

Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, Shapoor Zadran, Javed Ahmadi, Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Najibullah Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Rashid Khan (c), Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Windies

While The presence of Chris Gayle in their ranks did bolster the Windies batting lineup marred by inexperience as he accumulated a brutal hundred in the opening encounter against the UAE, it was their skipper Jason Holder who led the way from the front with a pristine 99 against the PNG to drive his team home when at one stage things threatened to go downhill.

In Hetmyer and Rovman Powell, who became the first West Indian to score an ODI hundred at No.7, Windies has found a savior whenever they’ve found themselves in a hole.

Probable XI

Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Kemar Roach, Ashley Nurse, Carlos Brathwaite, Jason Holder (c), Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope (wk), Kesrick Williams, Rovman Powell
