It was a matchup between the two high-profile teams, each boasting one individual world-class talent who has the potential to go down as one of the best.

Joel Embiid arrived with his Philadelphia 76ers team in Toronto, fresh from scoring a double-double in each game against Brooklyn Nets in the first round series. Against him was Kawhi Leonard, a player who has been marred by injuries and inconsistency which doesn’t quantify with his talent even a bit.

There were a lot of expectations. The world was watching and even Drake was inside the Scotiabank Arena, supposedly supporting the home team.

There was no curse. There is no such thing as “Drake Curse”. It’s utterly fabricated. For, Toronto won the game. Quite easily.

Sixers failed to arrive. The real Joel Embiid never showed up. And so Philadelphia struggled, every second of the match, and in every conceivable manner. They lost the game 108-95.

But the 13-point deficit doesn’t reveal the full story. It can’t. Raptors were just too good. They had many gears. And perhaps didn’t need to change due to the incapacity of their opponents.

Joel Embiid couldn’t affect the match and ended the night with just 16 points.

But the match will be remembered for Kawhi Leonard’s performance. He was too good. Amongst all the talented players gracing the Scotiabank Arena, he looked like an alien. Or to simply put, a super-human with so much power that he could have done anything he wanted in that match.

Sixers tried to throw Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons, and others at him, with an aim to thwart him, and limit his prowess. But nothing worked as the 2014 NBA finals MVP ended up with his career-high 45 points.

Philadelphia started the series as an underdog, and the result in the last game proved right. But we can expect a competitive battle from them. They are too good a team to suffer from too many off nights.

Kawhi Leonard – Ever since he won the 2014 Championship with San Antonio Spurs, it has been a complicated time for Kawhi Leonard. He struggled for consistency. Thwarted by injuries, he even sought a move away from Spurs.

He landed in Toronto this season and hasn’t looked back since then. He averaged 26.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in the regular season.

But the post-season is getting the best out of him. The 27-year-old small-forward is averaging 30.7 points per game in the playoffs. While his exceptional 45 points show in the last game shows his real capability. He shot 69% from the field in Game-1.

Pascal Siakam – Started the series where he left off against Orlando Magic. He was pretty solid against the Philly in Game-1, scoring 29 points, along with seven rebounds.

The 25-year-old is averaging 23.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in the post-season.

Philadelphia 76ers:
Joel Embiid – Was ineffective in Game-1 against the Raptors as he could manage just 16 points on 18 shot attempts. Marc Gasol did a brilliant job on him, nullifying his threat. But the 25-year-old is too good a player to not have an impact in this series. He will. You can be sure of that.

He is averaging 24.3 points per game in the playoffs, also racking up 13.5 rebounds per game.

Ben Simmons – He does almost everything on the court, scoring points, and racking up assists for the teammates. The reigning rookie of the year scored 31 points in game-2 when Joel Embiid had to sit out the game due to an injury. He is averaging 17.2 points per game and registering 7.2 assists per game.
