Jofra Archer ruled out of PSL:

Jofra Archer, West-Indies all-rounder has been ruled out of the ongoing third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to a side strain.

Archer catapulted into fame after performing consistently well in the Big Bash League (BBL) for Hobart Hurricanes this season and was one of the most sought-after uncapped players of IPL.

After exceptional BBL season, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 7.2 crore in the auction, but his appearance in the star-studded IPL remains doubtful due to his injury.

Currently, he is playing the PSL for Quetta Gladiators, but the franchise has confirmed his absence from the rest of the tournament.

Australia’s Ben Laughlin has been called in as a cover for Archer.

Archer was signed by English county team Sussex in 2016. He concluded the 2017 County Championship season as their leading wicket-taker in Division Two.

After having a great run in the county, the West Indies pacer joined Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL. He claimed a double-wicket maiden against the Melbourne Renegades in his debut match.

The 22-year old who is a known name in the T20 leagues around the world would be featuring for the first time in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals, the team returning after serving a two-year suspension bought him for a colossal price, but now his presence remains doubtful.

Despite Archer’s father being a British, he would have to wait till 2022 to earn a national call from England as ECB’s new rules demand him to complete 7 years of residence period.
