Yuvraj Singh says, no retirement before World Cup 2019

Yuvraj Singh has remained out of Indian Squad for a while now but he is looking forward to grabbing his spot back. In an interview given to PTI, the Indian all-rounder revealed that he would be thinking about retiring from cricket only after World Cup.

Yuvraj who last played for team India last year in June 2017 in an ODI, said the upcoming Indian Premier League would play a crucial role in determining his place in the 2019 World Cup. He said that he wants to play cricket till 2019.

 IPL, a deciding factor for Yuvi:

“I am looking forward to a good season in IPL as it would be the deciding factor for me. I am looking forward to playing cricket until 2019 and the upcoming season of IPL would set me on the right path,” he said.

“I would keep playing cricket till 2019, will think of retiring after that.”

Yuvraj’s endurance affected by Cancer:

Yuvraj Singh was a regular feature in the ODI team till the 2011 World Cup win after which he was diagnosed with a rare germ cancer. Yuvraj regrets not cementing his place in the Indian Test side.

“When I was at my best in the initial years of my career, I could not get many chances to play in the Test team and when I did, I was diagnosed with cancer,” he reminisces.

In a press conference at 18th Laureus World Sports Awards, Yuvi told that although he could not control the things, yet the regret would always remain there.

Yuvraj praises Virat and Co.:

Yuvraj praised Virat Kohli and his team for the character they showed to bounce back in the limited over-series after the 1-2 loss in the Test series. He also credited the spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav who proved to be a threat for the South Africa team.
