The second ODI on Saturday got washed off after the rain came into play.  Having opted to bat first, Afghanistan started well and posted 250-7 in 48.3 overs with the help of fifties from Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi when the rain came into play and halted the game. After an inspection at 06:15 PM IST, the officials had to call off the game.

In the third ODI, Ireland needs to make a strong comeback to level the series and stay alive in the contest. Afghanistan is ahead in the series by 1-0 and has outplayed Ireland in all three departments so far. Earlier, Afghanistan clean swept the visitors by 3-0 in the three-match T20I series.
