As expected, New Zealand has won the 3-match One Day International series against Bangladesh with a game to spare. The Kiwis will now look to complete the whitewash when they face the Bangladeshis for the third and the last match of the tournament. Meanwhile, the visitors would push for the consolation win and get something positive out of the series.

What happened? The 2nd ODI match

Much like the 1st ODI of the series, Bangladesh came out to bat first at Christchurch and failed to impress. The Kiwis were once again deadly with their bowling attack as they managed to bowl out Bangladesh for the second game running. Despite Mohammad Mithun and Sabbir Rahman putting up a fight, the team on the road managed to score only 226 runs. Ferguson, Astle and Neesham did the most of the damage to the Bangladeshi batting order.

Chasing a total of 227 runs, the Kiwis blasted home by achieving the target in just 36 overs and losing only 2 wickets in the process. Guptill was once again menacing and he completed his second consecutive century to win the match for New Zealand. The opening batsman scored a brilliant 118 runs off 88 balls.

What happens in The 3rd ODI match?

Having won the two matches and the series, Newzealand are expected to make quite a few changes and field a younger team. However, Bangladesh will still find it hard to overcome an experimental New Zealand team in their own backyard. The Blackcaps will thrive on finishing the series with another impressive performance and wrap up their preparations for the ODI world cup in the summer.
