While the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League is couple hours away, the two-times title champions Islamabad United are gearing up hard to defend their title. The PSL 2019 tournament opener will be played between reigning champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai tomorrow night.

This is the fourth edition of Pakistan’s T20 cricket league established by Pakistan Cricket Board in 2015. A total of six franchises will take place for the title win from February 14-March 17. The month-long cricket extravaganza will witness 34 T20s with the final being scheduled to take place in Karachi on March 17, Sunday.

Islamabad United clinched 3 wickets win over Peshawar Zalmi in last year’s final to seize the title for the second time after winning it for the first time in 2016. They will be defending the title this year.

Lahore Qalandars had one of the worst outings last year. With just three wins in ten outings, Qalandars finished at the bottom of the ladder last year but with some new international signings, Qalandars would be hoping for a better run this time around.

Qalandars new signings include- Mr 360- AB de Villiers- who is set to make his PSL debut with the tournament opener against Islamabad United, and Corey Anderson- who was in news for breaking Shahid Afridi’s world record for the fastest ODI century off just 36 balls.

Islamabad United will be banking on Luke Ronchi – who was the most devastating batter in the PSL 3. With a strike rate of 182.00, Luke Ronchi amassed 435 runs in last year’s PSL and was instrumental in Islamabad’s second title win. United will be led by Mohammad Sami and have Wayne Parnell, Cameron Delport, Philip Salt and Ian Bell as their overseas talents.
