NZ vs IND Match Prediction & Preview
After a thumping win in the first T20I, New Zealand will eye for the series now when they square off against India for the second T20I on Friday at Auckland.
The Indian batting collapse that haunted them in the 4th ODI came back to hand them their biggest ever T20I defeat in terms of runs. Just like India did throughout the ODIs, New Zealand did it in the opening T20I, they stuck to their strengths and delivered the basics right. Losing the series will come as a big setback for India as that will leave them exposed with their over-dependency on Virat Kohli. Players from the bench have failed to stand up and hog the limelight, which has raised some serious concerns ahead of the World Cup in England.
New Zealand are breathing a sigh of relief. Their top order menace looks a little rested for now with Tim Seifert’s arrival. Their bowling looks balanced again considering Trent Boult too will be a part of it in the main run. For now, they’ll be aiming to take the series in the second game itself and leave the third for some more experiments with their Playing11.
Team News
New Zealand
Injuries: New Zealand did not suffer any casualties in the first T20I and will have a fully fit squad to pick from.
Doubt: Colin de Grandhomme did not bowl and hardly had anything to show for himself with the bat. He might have to face the axe tomorrow.
Questionable: Jimmy Neesham and Doug Bracewell are the two candidates waiting to come in for Grandhomme.
Expected Changes: More likely we expect Bracewell to come in for either of Daryl Mitchell or Colin de Grandhomme.
India
Injuries: Apart from the rested players, India do not have any injuries to trouble them.
Doubt: India continuing with Khaleel Ahmed will now be rather surprising. His figures were far from being impressive and with a bunch of pacers on the bench, another chance for him is less likely.
Questionable: Siddharth Kaul and Mohammad Siraj will be the two probables for Khaleel’s spot.
Expected Changes: With Siraj also tested, we expect Siddharth Kaul to get a start in place of Khaleel Ahmed.
