SA vs PAK Match Preview
After a spirited performance in the second ODI, hosts South Africa will look to gain the upper hand in the five-match series when they meet Pakistan for the third ODI at Centurion on Friday. Both sides have been edgy with their batting performances and the SuperSport Park in Centurion is no place to get that fixed either. The pitch is likely to offer some extra pace and bounce, which so far has troubled Pakistani batsmen throughout the series. However, the sheer magic of Shaheen Afridi has been something that will make South Africa ponder over their batting line up.
The spirits in the Pakistani dressing room will definitely be far from anything positive as their captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed was caught passing on a few racist remarks against South Africa’s Andile Phehlukwayo on the stump mic during the second ODI. Both sides will be desperate to take the lead in the five match series, but it will be Pakistan for whom it win be a more important game to win given their showing on the tour so far. A win is a must for them to get some positivity back in their dressing room and live up to their billing in the limited overs format.
Team News
South Africa Team News
Injuries: Dale Steyn and Quinton de Kock are expected to return to the starting lineup after missing out the second ODI due to injuries.
Doubts: Quinton de Kock’s return will mean one of either Heinrich Klaasen, Reeza Hendricks, or Rassie van der Dussen will have to sit out. Also, Dale Steyn’s return will see Dane Paterson getting axed from the side.
Questionable: South Africa have a full fledged side at their exposure with no questionable players.
Expected Changes: Dale Steyn in for Dane Paterson; Quinton de Kock in for Heinrich Klaasen/Reeza Hendricks
Pakistan Team News
Injuries: There are no injuries as such and given the importance of this match, resting any key player too will be out of the plan for the visitors.
Doubts: Hussain Talat’s unimpressive ODI debut leaves a space open for southpaw Mohammad Amir to make a comeback.
Questionable: Pakistan too have a fully fit squad to pick from and will have all the players 100% fit and ready to play at Centurion. Faheem Ashraf too has been disappointing in the two ODIs so far and that will leave a space open for either of Usman Khan or Imad Wasim to replace him.
Expected Changes: Mohammad Amir in for Hussain Talat; Imad Wasim in for Faheem Ashraf
