Manchester City vs Liverpool, Premier League
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed Kevin De Bruyne could be in contention to play against Liverpool on Thursday. The Belgian returned to action after a six-week absence in December but picked up a muscle problem to miss the last game. Guardiola said he will be checked by the medical staff tomorrow morning for the decision on his availability.
“He [De Bruyne] trained today. But, tomorrow we need another check in the morning, but he is much better.” Pep Guardiola
Liverpool are seven points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the Premier League standings. The latter faced three defeats in previous five matches to let Liverpool get past. However, City returned to winning ways with a 3-1 result against Southampton in the last outing.
“We are seven points down. It is the second round of games and I have a feeling there is a big opportunity for us to reduce the gap.”

James Milner in contention for Liverpool
James Milner is also in contention to take part in the defining Premier League tie at the Etihad. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed the news of Milner getting back in training ahead of the City game.
He [James Milner] was back in training with us yesterday for the first time, so we will see.” Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool are sitting at the head of Premier League points table, seeking the league title for the first time in 29 years. A win here would extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.
“It is one of the most difficult games you can play in the modern football world, away at City. City will be ready and we have to make sure we are ready.”
