Rashid Khan’s father passes away; available for BBL fixture vs Thunder

Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan’s father passed away on Sunday. The unfortunate news was shared by Mohammad Nabi. Rashid Khan is currently playing in the Big Bash League and is expected to travel back to Afghanistan but he is available for the today’s match against Sydney Thunders on Monday.

Our thoughts are with Rashid and his family during this difficult time.

Rashid heartbroken after father’s demise

The young Afghan leg-spinner shared his feelings on Twitter.

The Twitter handle of Rashid Khan foundation shared Rashid’s feeling on its Twitter handle. It said,’ Dad, your memories have become my heartbeats & will stay with me for the rest of my life. I became #RashidKhan because of your duas & you are no longer with me to share my achievements. I have so much left to say to you. I Miss You’.

Even Rashid Khan expressed his feelings through his official Twitter handle. He said, ‘Today I lost the most important person in my life,father-the everlasting candle.Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
Now I know why u always asked me to be strong,bcz u knew that today I would need the strength to bear your loss. Will be always in my miss u.’

Rashid’s Afganistan teammate Mohammad Nabi offered his condolences to Rashid through a tweet. The all-rounder’s tweet read, ‘With deep sorrow, I have been informed that Afghanistan National Cricket team player and my dear friend, Rashid khan’s father passed away. I would like to express my deep condolences to Rashid Khan and his family. May Allah award his father the Jannah.@rashidkhan_19.’

The Afghanistan spinner has made a meteoric rise in world cricket in a short span. The 20-year old has featured in 35 T20Is and has claimed 64 wickets. He has been equally good in ODIs as well. He is at number two in ODI rankings and has 118 wickets under his belt in 52 ODIs.
