Houston Rockets will look to extend their winning streak when they host fellow Western Conference team Utah Jazz in an NBA match at Toyota Center, in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday morning (IST).

Houston Rockets need to grind out results to come out from their current rut which has cursed the team for the most part of the current season.

For a team who was backed up by so many NBA pundits and fans alike to end Golden State Warriors’ dominance in NBA, it’s hard to believe that Rockets are struggling even to break into the NBA playoff positions. They have been so poor that at one point in the season, they were 2nd last in the Western Conference, and the current situation is not good enough to think that the bad times are firmly behind the gone for the better.

At the moment, the last year’s regular season leaders are 12th in the Western Conference and for the first time this season, managed to split their record after beating Memphis Grizzlies 97-105 for their third win on the trot, including a big and perhaps a warning to the other teams that are back to their very best when Houston beat LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers 126-111 at Toyota Centre just a few days ago.

Grizzlies suffered the wrath of James Harden. The reigning NBA MVP was at his blistering best as he scored a jaw-dropping 50 points and also ended up with yet another triple-double, scoring 11 assists and 10 rebounds in the match.

Utah Jazz:

Utah Jazz went down on the road once again, this time falling 89-96 to Orlando Magic in Mexico City. The loss left them at 13th in the table and as one of the only three teams in the Western Conference with a winning percentage less than .500.

The game was not an NBA spectacle by any means. Both the teams produced one of the worst offensive displays in the first half in NBA this season with Magic scoring 33 points while Jazz had 35 points to their name. No wonder the fans who came to watch NBA stars looked bemused and lackadaisical for most of the game.

Donovan Mitchell, Jazz’s highest scorer this season, once again led from the front and scored 24 points in the match, while Derrick Favors ended with 21 points in the match. There was no apparent support from the 2nd unit with no player touching the double-digit mark.

James Harden – There are only a handful of players who can match the consistency and the tenacity of Mr Beard on the court. He is the reigning NBA MVP and looks to be in the groove to retain this coveted title. The 29-year-old is the only player to average more than 30 this season. While in the last 10 games or so, he has taken his average to 33.
Clint Capela – The 24-year-old is an indispensable part of Houston Rockets roster. He does the nasty work, scores points and provides assists as well to his teammates. Rockets’ 2014 1st round pick is dropping 17.4 points per game and is the leading rebounds chart for his team this season.

Utah Jazz:

Donovan Mitchell – Scored a joint-game-high 24 points in the last match. The 22-year-old is the only player in Jazz’s roster to average in the 20s this season. He has three scores in the 20s on the last four games. A big player for Utah on any given day and should be in your NBA fantasy team.
Rudy Gobert – Utah Jazz’ struggles could be directed towards many things and one of them could be Rudy Gobert’s inconsistency this season. However, the 26-year-old former Denver Nuggets player is an important part of Utah’s roster and remains their 2nd best player as far as averaging points per game is concerned.
