Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 84 runs in the last group encounter on Sunday to secure a place in the semi-finals. They will now lock horns with the hosts Sri Lanka at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo in the first semi-final to book a place in Saturday’s final.

In the second semi-final, India and Pakistan will be locking horns at Colombo Cricket Club Ground, Colombo.

After facing a shocking 97 runs defeat in the opening encounter against the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh came back strongly and registered two consecutive wins against Hong Kong by 28 runs and Pakistan by 84 runs to book a spot in the preliminary final. With two wins in three encounters, Bangladesh finished second in the Group with 4 points. They finished just behind table-topper Pakistan due to net run rate difference.

Joint hosts Sri Lanka started off well against Oman and registered a thumping 109 runs win in the opening encounter. They face some difficulty against Afghanistan but eventually turned out to be the winner by 1 wicket. In their third and last group encounter, Sri Lanka faced India and got a drubbing by 4 wickets while defending 250+ on board.                

A total of eight teams including Sri Lanka, Oman, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and UAE took part in the tournament in two groups A and B led by Sri lank and Pakistan respectively. Pakistan hosted UAE, Hong Kong and Bangladesh at Karachi in Group B while Sri Lanka welcomed India, Afghanistan and Oman at Colombo in Group A. The tournament final will be played R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on December 15.
