Two Western Conference giants will go against each other in an NBA match at Toyota Center, in Houston, Texas, on Friday morning (IST).

Houston Rockets:

Houston Rockets nearly had it, brought a sight so close that they could sense it. Looked unthinkable though before the 2017-18 Western Conference finals, and it was beyond the comprehension of a normal mind that the series could go down to the seven games.

At this stage, Rockets are 12th in the table, have a 6-7 record, sit a massive six games behind Warriors and in all aspects, they don’t look like a team which racked up a league-best 65 games last season.

Golden State Warriors:

Golden State Warriors are leading the Western Conference ahead of Portland Trail Blazers. The Dubs, however, hit a purple patch in the recent days as they split their last four games heading into this match. Arguably the team in form, Milwaukee Bucks scripted a result of the season so far, winning by a margin of 23 points against Curry and Co is some feat for any team. Other two defeats have come against Denver Nuggets in the 3rd game of the season, while Los Angeles Clippers beat them 121-116 yesterday in the overtime.

There is nothing uncanny in those three losses though. It can be a minor blip in their imperious pursuit for yet another glorious chapter, as a defeat can be a timely reminder of complacency brewing within the team.

James Harden – Houston Rockets are struggling and you can simply put it down to James Harden’s own bad form. Yes, it’s true that the reigning NBA MVP hasn’t started the season as he would have wanted but in the recent matches, but his performance in the recent matches has shown that the Mr Beard is reaching his lofty heights.

Chris Paul – The 33-year-old is struggling to put numbers on the board this season but remains key to Houston Rockets ambitions. The former New Orleans Pelicans star is going for 17.6 points per game this season.

Golden State Warriors:

Kevin Durant – Scored a game-high 29 points in the last match against Atlanta Hawks as Warriors won 110-103 in that match. There aren’t many match-ups in the NBA which can draw as much attention as a fixture between Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets these days. Undoubtedly a big game, and you can count on him when the big nights come calling.
Klay Thompson – The 28-year-old is a special talent and is a part of Warriors’ fab-four. With Stephen Curry remaining sidelines and potentially out of this game as well, expect Thompson to come big in this game.
