KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal to Continue Opening

After a stellar partnership in Perth, where they put on 201 runs in the second innings, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal have earned their spot as India’s opening pair for the remainder of the series. Both have been in solid form, and their combination at the top is expected to continue in Adelaide. Jaiswal, fresh from a promising start, will look to establish his place at the top of the order, while Rahul will aim to convert his solid starts into a big score.

Shubman Gill at No. 3, Replacing Devdutt Padikkal

In the practice match, Shubman Gill batted at No. 3, and it seems like the team management is set to stick with this arrangement for the Adelaide Test. Gill will replace the struggling Devdutt Padikkal, who has failed to deliver in the limited chances he’s had. Gill’s consistency and ability to anchor the innings make him an ideal candidate for the crucial No. 3 spot in the batting order.

Rohit Sharma to Bat at No. 5

In a surprising but strategic move, Rohit Sharma could demote himself down to No. 5. Despite his success at the top in previous series, Rohit has struggled against the Australian bowlers in the early overs, particularly with the new ball. In the practice match, Rohit came in at No. 4, which suggests he may shift further down to No. 5, hoping to avoid the initial swing and play a more controlled knock in the middle order. This move also sees young Dhruv Jurel making way for the experienced Rohit Sharma to strengthen the middle order.

Rishabh Pant at No. 6 and Nitish Kumar Reddy at No. 7

Rishabh Pant, who has been in solid form with the bat, will continue his role at No. 6, where he provides explosive power in the lower order. He’ll be expected to make a significant impact, especially during the final phases of India’s innings. Nitish Kumar Reddy will follow Pant at No. 7, bringing depth to the middle order and adding more batting stability for the team.

No Changes in the Bowling Line-up

India’s bowlers were in superb form during the first Test, with Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge and wreaking havoc on the Aussie top order. The bowling unit looks set to remain unchanged, with Bumrah joined by Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana as the pace trio. Washington Sundar, the sole spinner, will once again play a key role in providing control during the middle overs.
