Sri Lanka is looking to bounce back in the second T20 against West Indies after a disappointing performance in the first match. On a Dambulla surface that usually supports the batters, Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum. Despite Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis getting off to a slow start, they managed to post a total of 179, which turned out to be less than competitive.
The bowlers, too, couldn’t find their rhythm, repeating the mistakes of the batters by giving away too many runs early on. While Sri Lanka’s decision to lengthen their batting by including Chamindu Wickramsinghe at No. 8 made sense, leaving out Nuwan Thushara might not have been the best call.
West Indies, despite missing a few key players, showed their strength in game one, chasing the target with five balls to spare. Their bowling was surprisingly disciplined, with Shamar Joseph and Roston Chase keeping things tight. In the batting department, Brandon King and Evin Lewis shined with half-centuries, guiding their team to a comfortable victory.
