Rajasthan Royals will face off against Gujarat Titans in the 24th match of IPL 2024 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Both the teams had contrasting results in their previous encounter and the visitors will be eager to taste success in the upcoming affair.
GT have had an inconsistent campaign so far and are coming into the contest on the back of two consecutive defeats. They have lost three out of five matches and currently sit in seventh position on the points table. On the other hand, the Royals remain the only unbeaten team and are placed at the top of the table with eight points from four matches.
Flipping through the pages of the history book, GT has outclassed RR in their head-to-head encounters. The two have faced off five times in the league’s history, with the Titans winning on four occasions. RR’s only win came in the first league match of the 2023 season, but GT gave it back with a nine-wicket win in their last meeting. However, history has no significance for the Royals, who are in excellent form this time around.
These two teams have played five matches in total in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals won the last game between the two, while Gujarat Titans won the first four, which also included the final of the 2022 season.
RR vs GT Top 5 Player Battles
- Jos Buttler vs Umesh Yadav
Jos Buttler is coming off an unbeaten century in the last game against RCB, and he is truly back in form. He will be a big wicket in this clash, and if GT want to put RR under pressure, they need to dismiss him early on. Hence, Umesh Yadav can be a good bowler against him. He bowls at a good pace and swings the ball, and he has dismissed Buttler twice in international cricket. Buttler has scored 54 off 37 balls from Umesh in the IPL but the bowler is yet to send him back to the pavillion.

One of the most important battles in the game will be between Trent Boult and GT skipper Shubman Gill. Both are in form this season and have done well for their teams. Boult has been providing early wickets to RR, and Gill is providing good starts to GT. However, Gill hasn’t had great numbers against Boult. He has scored only 57 runs off him in 55 balls at a strike rate of 103.6, and Boult has dismissed him once in the IPL.

- Sanju Samson vs Rashid Khan
In the last game played between the two teams, RR captain Sanju Samson took on Rashid Khan in a chase and helped his team win the game. This will be an exciting battle once again. Samson has been superb so far in the IPL 2024 and played an important knock against RCB. Rashid has looked rusty after an injury, but you never know. He will be a very hard bowler to get away from. He has dismissed Samson once in the IPL and conceded 111 runs off 96 balls with a strike rate of 115.6.

- Riyan Parag vs Rashid Khan

One underrated but important battle will be between Riyan Parag and Noor Ahmad. These two players are crucial for their teams and do their roles well without much limelight. This will be the first time they will cross paths in the IPL, but both are very good in the middle overs. Parag has been scoring runs, and Noor has been taking wickets in the middle phase.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been dismissed thrice by left-arm pace in this IPL, which makes Spencer Johnson a good bet from the Titans’ perspective. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan is a good option against Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer, with the Afghanistan legspinner having bagged their wickets thrice each.
The Royals will look to target Sai Sudharsan with their quick bowlers early on considering his numbers against pace this season – four dismissals, an average of 26 and a strike rate of 123.81.
