The Johannesburg-based T20 franchise, Joburg Super Kings, under the ownership of N. Srinivasan, the illustrious owner of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League, is gearing up for an electrifying presence in the SA20 2024.
In the inaugural SA20 edition, the Stephen Fleming-coached squad exhibited an impressive league-stage performance, securing six wins and three losses to clinch the second spot in the points table. Despite their formidable run, their journey was cut short in the semifinals by defending champions South Eastern Cape, who outplayed them, securing a 14-run victory.
Heading into the new season, Faf du Plessis remains at the helm, continuing his captaincy for the Super Kings. Last season, he proved his mettle as the second-highest run-scorer, tallying 369 runs, embellished with one century and two half-centuries. Gerald Coetzee, a standout performer as South Africa’s leading wicket-taker in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, dominated the bowling charts for the Super Kings, claiming 17 wickets.
