Quetta Gladiators Player List PSL 2024
Jason Roy, Saud Shakeel, Khawaja Nafay, Rilee Rossouw, Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Wasim, Mohammad Hasnain, Abrar Ahmed, Will Smeed, Sajjad Ali (wk), Omair Bin Yousuf, Akeal Hosein, Usman Qadir, Adil Naz, Sohail Khan
A notable return is Rilee Rossouw, a pivotal player during Quetta’s successful stint until 2019. After four seasons with Multan Sultans, Rossouw rejoins the Gladiators, having been traded prior to the draft. Additionally, the team bid farewell to seasoned left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz, who represented them for eight seasons, paving the way for the inclusion of two local leg-spinners, Abrar Ahmed and Usman Qadir.
Spin remains a cornerstone of their strategy. Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri Lankan leg-spinner, is set to debut in the PSL, albeit available for only five matches. Akeal Hosein, a left-arm spinner from the West Indies A squad, stands as Hasaranga’s backup.
Addressing their historical fast-bowling concerns, Quetta Gladiators have made strides by acquiring the services of Mohammad Amir, set to spearhead the bowling attack. Amir, marking his debut for a franchise other than Karachi Kings after nine years, will receive support from the pace duo of Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Wasim. Saud Shakeel, an uncapped PSL player overlooked in 33 previous matches by Quetta, is anticipated to step up and open for the team in 2024.
However, the team faces challenges, notably the absence of a bowler adept at containing runs in the death overs. Additionally, the lower-order batting seems overly reliant on Sherfane Rutherford as the solitary power-hitter, signifying an area for potential concern and strategic reinforcement.
