West Indies emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against India in the second T20I match at Providence Stadium, Guyana, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

Chasing a target of 153, the West Indies faced an early setback, losing two wickets in the opening over. However, Nicholas Pooran’s explosive innings turned the tide in favor of the hosts. His partnership with Rovman Powell (21) took the West Indies to 89 runs in just 9.5 overs. Later, Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer (22) added 37 more runs to propel the score to 126 at the end of 14 overs.
Although Pooran’s wicket fell at 126/4, it seemed unlikely that the West Indies would lose the game. However, India’s bowlers fought back, with Yuzvendra Chahal’s double strike causing a minor hiccup for the West Indies. Despite the late wickets, Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph displayed nerves of steel, guiding their team to victory with seven balls to spare.
In India’s batting display, young talent Tilak Varma shone brightly, scoring a thrilling 41-ball 51 with five fours and a six. However, India’s top-order batsmen struggled to accelerate, resulting in a total of 152/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
The West Indies bowlers put up an impressive performance, with Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein, and Romario Shepherd claiming two wickets each. Obed McCoy and Jason Holder also bowled economically, although they couldn’t take any wickets.
