SA 20 Auction Date and Details

With the auction scheduled for 27 September in Johannesburg, teams are preparing to bolster their squads with some of the finest talent from around the world.

The purse for the auction has received a substantial boost, with each team now having R39.1 million (US$ 2.09 million approx) to spend, an increase of R5.1 million (US$ 273,854) from the previous season. This financial boost promises an intense bidding war as franchises vie to secure the best players to bolster their chances of clinching the SA20 title.

A total of 21 slots are up for grabs in the auction, and six of these are reserved for rookie players. The inclusion of rookie players adds an exciting element to the competition, offering young and talented South African cricketers a chance to shine on the big stage. A rookie player must meet specific criteria, being a South African aged 22 or under and having not previously played in SA20.

The team composition will also play a crucial role, with each franchise required to form a squad of 19 players. Among these players, a minimum of ten must be South African, while a maximum of seven can be international players. The addition of a rookie player completes the dynamic mix of talent in each team, adding to the intrigue and unpredictability of the upcoming season.
