The massive breaking news development coming from the Indian camp is that wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson is not playing the first of three-match ODI series against West Indies being played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. India have done reasonably well in the 50-overs format during the recent while having managed to win 4 out of their last 6 ODI matches.
WI vs IND: Why is Sanju Samson Not Playing India vs West Indies 1st ODI?
After having won the toss and opting to bowl first, India captain Rohit Sharma mentioned that Sanju Samson has missed out from the India playing 11 for this WI vs IND 1st ODI match. Rohit further revealed that they are playing Ishan Kishan as the wicket-keeper batsman. It is quite unfortunate that Samson has failed to make the cut in the side despite an impressive record in ODI cricket. The right-handed swashbuckling batsman has scored a total of 330 runs from as many as 11 ODI matches at a brilliant average of 66 that includes a couple of half-centuries as well. He also has a wonderful ODI strike-rate of over 104.
“We are gonna field first, no particular reason. We are gonna try a few different things. We want to head into the World Cup with a clear mindset. For us, the results are also important. At times, we are going to try out different players but we don’t want to compromise on our results. All cricketers around the world who are playing all formats need to adapt well. Hopefully, we can get what we want here. We have got four seamers and two spinners,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
