Team India will continue their preparations for the all-important ODI World Cup 2023 to be played at home with the three-match ODI series in West Indies. India will be playing the first ODI match against West Indies on 27 July, 2023 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. This will also be India’s first-ever ODI series after that poor series loss at the hands of Australia at home in March 2023.
WI vs IND: Predicted India Playing XI for India vs West Indies ODI series
Shubman Gill has looked in a terrific form especially in ODI cricket during the ongoing 2023 calendar year and he will start as the opener with skipper Rohit Sharma in West Indies. Virat Kohli will bat at No.3 while Suryakumar Yadav is expected to retain his No.4 spot despite getting out for a duck in all of three ODI games against Australia at home. With both KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant injured, Sanju Samson has made a comeback in the ODI team and he is very much likely to be the wicket-keeper batsman.
India’s ODI vice-captain Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja will be the frontline all-rounders in the side for the first ODI against West Indies. One of the two wrist spinners, Kuldeep Yadav or Yuzvendra Chahal will be the second spinner with Jadeja. India will definitely play Shardul Thakur to extend their batting line-up. Interestingly, in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj will be leading the pace bowling attack alongside Shardul and one of Umran Malik or Jaydev Unadkat.
