The important news update coming from the Gujarat Titans (GT) camp is that Vijay Shankar is not playing their 13th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Things did not panned out in an ideal manner for the Gujarat Titans recently in the ongoing 16th edition of the IPL as they suffered a poor 27-run loss at the hands of Mumbai Indians in their last game. However, GT are still comfortably placed at the top of the points table with as many as 8 wins and 4 losses.

After having lost the toss and being asked to bat first, the Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya revealed that Vijay Shankar is not part of the GT playing 11 for today’s GT vs SRH match. Hardik further mentioned that the right-handed batsman got hit in the nets and was not available for selection. Shankar’s absence is a huge setback for the Gujarat Titans as he has been batting really well in the middle-order. He has notched up a total of 234 runs from 10 games in IPL 2023 season at a phenomenal strike-rate of over 163 that includes a couple of impactful half-centuries as well.

“Yeah, it is a special initiative to support cancer patients. We have played really good cricket. The standing in the table doesn’t matter that much, you have to play good cricket. When we started, we knew it would be a tricky year for us. The players have put up their hands in tough situations and put their hands up. It is a fresh wicket, we would have liked to field as well. We have a couple of forced changes. Shankar got hit by a ball in the net yesterday, Sai comes in. Shanka makes his debut and also Yash Dayal is back,” said Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya during the toss.
