The massive breaking news development coming from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) camp is that their captain KL Rahul will not be playing their 10th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Things did not worked out very well for the Lucknow Super Giants recently in the ongoing 16th edition of the IPL as they suffered a disappointing 18-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their most recent encounter. However, LSG still has as many as 5 wins from a total of 9 matches in IPL 2023.

LSG vs CSK: Why is KL Rahul Not Playing Today’s IPL 2023 Match?

Unfortunately, the Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul will not be available for selection in today’s LSG vs CSK match. The right-handed opening batsman suffered hip flexor injury while fielding during the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore after which he did not came out to open the batting in the run-chase. It is currently reported by the PTI that Rahul’s injury is quite serious and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team will be taking further care of him at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. However, it is still unclear as to whether KL Rahul will take further part in the remainder of the IPL 2023 season or not. In his absence, left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya will captain the Lucknow Super Giants in the match against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday.

“KL is currently with the team in Lucknow but he is leaving the camp on Thursday after watching the game against CSK on Wednesday. His scans will be done in Mumbai at the BCCI designated medical facility. His case as well as Jaydev’s case will be handled by BCCI,” a senior BCCI source privy to development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

“Since he is an important member of Test team, it would only be prudent that he doesn’t take any further part in IPL. Once the scans ascertain the degree of injury, the BCCI medical team will decide the course of action,” he further added.

On the other hand, Rahul has been in an excellent form during this T20 competition having scored 274 runs from 9 games that includes a couple of half-centuries as well.
