The big news update coming from the Delhi Capitals (DC) camp is that they have dropped right-arm fast bowler Mukesh Kumar for their 9th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) against the Gujarat Titans (GT) being hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Delhi Capitals desperately needs to come up with an improved performance both in the batting as well as bowling departments because they are languishing at the bottom of the points table with just a couple of wins and as many as 6 losses in IPL 2023.
GT vs DC: Why is Mukesh Kumar Not Playing Today IPL Match?
During the toss, Delhi Capitals captain David Warner mentioned that Mukesh Kumar is not included in the DC playing XI for today’s GT vs DC match. Incidentally, he is not even part of the five substitute members out of which one can come in as an Impact Player at any moment in the game. While making his IPL debut for the Delhi Capitals this year, Mukesh has picked up as many as 5 wickets from 7 matches at an expensive economy rate of close to 11. The pacer has not been really consistent with the ball which has forced the Delhi Capitals to pick the experienced left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed in the substitutes list.
“We will bat first. Nice wicket, looks a bit dry. Want to put runs on the board. We have to come out positive, we got some young talent and hopefully they all will get to showcase it tonight. Unfortunately Mitch Marsh is sick, so Rilee Rossouw comes in for him. Khaleel has recovered from the niggle and he is back as well,” said Delhi Capitals captain David Warner during the toss.

Mukesh Kumar IPL 2023 Price
Delhi Capitals made waves during the 2023 IPL auctions by acquiring 29-year-old bowler Mukesh Kumar from West Bengal for a hefty INR 5.5 Crore, making him their most expensive player. Hailing from Kakarkund village in Gopalganj, Bihar, Kumar made it to the Bengal cricket team after impressing at the Vision 2020 trials in 2014.
