After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma mentioned that speedster Jofra Archer is once again not part of the MI Playing 11 in the DC vs MI IPL 2023 match. After having played the opening game for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023, the England pacer suffered a niggle on his shoulder and thus, he missed the last match against Chennai Super Kings. Archer also went wicketless in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rohit further stated that Jofra was not available for selection in this game against Delhi Capitals. In his absence, Mumbai Indians have included right-arm speedster Riley Meredith who came in as a replacement for the injured Jhye Richardson.

“We will bowl first. We batted in the first 2 games, didn’t do well enough. The pitch looks dry and probably take some turn and dew might also be a factor tonight. We got Riley Meredith in place of Stubbs. The other changes is about the impact players. We will see how it goes. When the chips are down you need the senior players to stand up. Jofra is not available,” said Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
