While playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season, right-handed batsman Mandeep Singh now founds himself at the top of an unwanted list of most ducks in the history of the competition. The Kolkata Knight Riders ended up losing their opening match in the ongoing 16th edition of the IPL against Punjab Kings by a margin of 7 runs during their first away encounter of the season.
Most ducks in IPL: Mandeep Singh gets unwanted record
Kolkata Knight Riders’ experienced Indian batsman Mandeep Singh was unfortunately dismissed clean bowled on a golden duck by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer David Wiley in the ongoing IPL 2023 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. 31-year-old Mandeep is now at the top of the table for recording the most ducks in IPL with a total of 15 ducks from as many as 97 innings in the history of the T20 competition. The second name in the list is of another experienced Indian batsman, Dinesh Karthik, who also has 14 ducks from a total of 209 IPL innings as the right-hander was dismissed for a duck during RCB’s first match of IPL 2023 against Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is placed at the third position with as many as 14 ducks from 223 IPL innings so far. On the other hand, it is quite a fact that all the eight players part of the most ducks in IPL list are all Indian cricketers with Harbhajan Singh and Parthiv Patel occupying the fourth and fifth spot respectively with 13 ducks each.
