India vs Australia: Why is Nathan Ellis Not Playing Today’s IND vs AUS 3rd ODI?
During the toss, Australia’s captain Steve Smith mentioned that pace bowler Nathan Ellis is not playing this final game in India. While looking at the history of the Chennai pitch and its track record over the years, the spinners have got assistance in these dry conditions which has forced the visiting Aussie team to play an extra frontline spinner in Ashton Agar who is also a handy batsman lower down the order. After getting his first opportunity in this ODI series, Ellis bowled really well in the second ODI match where he picked up as many as two crucial wickets of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, ending with brilliant figures of 2 for 13 in his five overs as India bundled out for a paltry total of 117 runs. On the other hand, Agar has taken 18 wickets from 21 ODIs at an economy of less than 6.
“We are gonna have a bat. Looks like quite a dry surface, it is pretty hot out here. Will look to put a good total on this surface. We have had good fun and it will be exciting in the decider. We love playing in the crunch games and it’s exciting. It’s dry, so Ashton Agar is back. David Warner comes in for Cameron Green who is feeling a bit unwell, so there are changes,” said Australia captain Steve Smith during the toss.
