Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has set a Guinness World Record for 100 assists in the Premier League in the shortest amount of time. The Spaniard took 293 appearances, 74 fewer appearances than the previous record holder Ryan Giggs (367 matches), to achieve the feat.
“One of the proudest moment”
Speaking to Guinness World Record, Fabregas said, “I’m not the fastest, I’m not the strongest, I’m not the most flexible, I don’t jump high. But to achieve this record in my career is one of the proudest things in my job, because it is my job and I did it well.”
“Time at Arsenal helped me get better”
Talking of his playmaking talents, the 31-year-old midfielder said that his schooling with the youth teams at Barcelona and training at Arsenal helped him significantly.
“In the middle of training, I’d just had my mouth open. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The first touches of Dennis Bergkamp, the finishing of Thierry Henry, the presence of Patrick Vieira, I was very fortunate.”
Second Guinness World Record
Fabregas has also set a new marker for the most complete volley passes in 30 seconds by a pair. During a segment on Sky’s “A League Of Their Own” show, Cesc Fabregas and Jamie Redknapp completed 15 passes.
The Guinness World Records might not be as big as the World Cup triumph he had won in 2010, but still, it puts him alongside the best in the sport.
