Clash of Clans:
India and South Africa when last met in 2013, visitors were thrashed by 134 runs. In 2011, India was crushed by 135 runs and in 2006, India lost by 157 runs.
While Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have tasted bitter defeats here earlier, Indian bowling artillery Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are yet to play ODIs in South Africa.
Du Plessis keen to take on India:
South Africa Skipper Faf Du Plessis expects India to improve their record as he believes Indian team has players who can change the record.
Race to No.1:
Kohli and Co. can snatch the No. 1 position from Proteas if they manage to win the ODI series by 4-2 or better, while to retain the top spot South African team needs to draw the series. India’s place is on stake too as it would slip behind third-placed England if South African wins by 5-1.
