James Faulkner IPL: James Faulkner is a left-arm medium-fast bowler and an aggressive left-handed batsman from Tasmania, Australia. He has represented several franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years and has been one of the most consistent performers in the league.

James Faulkner IPL career in 2011 when he was picked up by the Pune Warriors India for USD 190,000. However, he only played a couple of games for the franchise in the 2011 season, taking just one wicket. Faulkner was not picked by any franchise in the 2012 season but returned to the IPL in 2013 when he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for USD 400,000.
In his first season with the Rajasthan Royals, James Faulkner IPL played a pivotal role in the franchise’s journey to the playoffs. He took 28 wickets in 16 matches at an economy rate of 6.76 and also contributed with the bat, scoring 171 runs at a strike rate of 159.25. Faulkner was awarded the Player of the Match award three times in the tournament, including the final, where he scored an unbeaten 15-ball 33 and took 2 for 26 to help his team win the title. He was also named the Player of the Series for his outstanding performance.
Faulkner’s performance in the 2013 season earned him a call-up to the Australian national team, and he went on to play a crucial role in Australia’s World Cup-winning campaign in 2015. He returned to the IPL in 2014, where he took 11 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 7.07. However, he was not as effective with the bat as he scored just 27 runs in six innings.
In the 2015 season, Faulkner continued to impress for the Rajasthan Royals. He took 19 wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of 8.48 and scored 77 runs at a strike rate of 157.14. However, the franchise failed to make it to the playoffs, finishing seventh in the league standings.
Faulkner was retained by the Gujarat Lions for the 2016 season, and he continued to be one of the best all-rounders in the league. He took 9 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 7.57 and scored 77 runs at a strike rate of 163.82. However, the Lions could not make it to the playoffs, finishing third from the bottom in the league standings.

In the 2017 season, Faulkner was bought by the Rising Pune Supergiants for USD 1.1 million, making him one of the most expensive overseas players in the auction. However, he could only play a couple of games for the franchise, taking just one wicket.
Faulkner was not picked by any franchise in the 2018 season but returned to the IPL in 2019 when he was picked up by the Kings XI Punjab for his base price of USD 162,000. However, he did not have a great season as he could only take 3 wickets in 5 matches at an economy rate of 9.07.
Overall, Faulkner has played 60 matches in the IPL, taking 60 wickets at an economy rate of 7.34 and scoring 527 runs at a strike rate of 139.34. He has been a valuable all-rounder for his franchises over the years, with his ability to swing the ball and hit big sixes in the lower order.
