पंत की कीपिंग स्किल्स पर गौर करना होगा

ऋषभ पंत ने टेस्ट क्रिकेट में अब तक अच्छी बल्लेबाजी से लगभग सभी को प्रभावित किया है , पर उन्होने खराब विकेटकीपिंग का प्रदर्शन करते हुए वेस्ट इंडीज के खिलाफ टेस्ट मैच में कई कैच छोड़े| उन्होने कई बार बाई के रन भी जाने दिए और वे स्पिनर के खिलाफ संघर्ष करते दिखाई दिये|

पंत को इस तरह संघर्ष करते देख पूर्व विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज दीप दास गुप्ता को लगता है कि पंत अभी भी टेस्ट क्रिकेट के लिए तैयार नहीं हैं|

पंत को थोड़ा और समय देना होगा :- दास गुप्ता

एक ऑनलाइन पोर्टल से बातचीत के दौरान दीप दास गुप्ता ने कहा कि पंत अब तक टेस्ट क्रिकेट के लिए तैयार नहीं हैं| उन्होने कहा कि ऋषभ पंत केवल अभी 21 वर्ष के हैं और उन्होने रणजी क्रिकेट अभी 2 साल पहले ही खेलना शुरू किया है| दीप दास गुप्ता को लगता है कि पंत को अभी टेस्ट क्रिकेट में बेहतर होने के लिए थोड़ा समय लगेगा|

दीप दास गुप्ता के अनुसार टीम मैनेजमेंट को पंत को समय देना होगा ताकि वे टेस्ट क्रिकेट को सीख सकें| गौरतलब है कि पंत ने टेस्ट क्रिकेट खेलना और रणजी खेलना कुछ समय पहले से ही शुरू किया है इसलिए उन्हे अभी काफी समय लगेगा| अगर वो एक या दो मौके पर असफल होते हैं तो आप उन्हे टीम से बाहर नहीं कर सकते. यह उनका आत्मविश्वास खराब कर देगा|

पूर्व विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज ने पार्थिव पटेल का उदाहरण देते हुए बताया कि पार्थिव को भी युवा समय में ही टीम में शामिल कर लिया गया था, पर उसके बाद कुछ खराब मुकाबलों के लिए बाद उन्हे बाहर बैठना पड़ा|

दीप दास गुप्ता को लगता है कि भारतीय पिच पर स्पिनर के खिलाफ कीपिंग करना काफी मुश्किल है. उनके अनुसार नए कीपर को परिस्थितियां समझने में समय लगेगा|

हालांकि दीप दास गुप्ता ने कहा कि पंत के पास टैलेंट है और आने वाले वक़्त में सही मार्गदर्शन के साथ वे काफी आगे जाएंगे| गौरतलब है कि टीम मैनेजमेंट को उनका साथ देना होगा और उन पर विश्वास जताना होगा|

दीप दास गुप्ता ने कहा कि अगर पंत को टीम में आगे तक रखना है तो आपको उन्हे समय देना होगा|

Pant’s wicket-keeping skills under the scanner

Rishabh Pant has impressed everyone with his daredevil batting skills in the limited opportunities he has received so far but his wicket-keeping is constantly under the scanner as he dropped a few chances in the recent Test against West Indies. He also sneaked a few byes and looked uncomfortable against the spinners.

This makes former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta believe that Pant is still not a finished product in Tests and needs some more time.

While speaking with an online cricket portal, Dasgupta said that the youngster is not a finished product yet. He noted that the Indian wicket-keeper is just 21 and has played Ranji Trophy for two years. Hence he believes that Pant needs more time to get settled.

Dasgupta feels that the team management has to treat him well. He stated that left-hander has had an early start and you need to give him a longer rope. You just can’t make him sit out if he fails in one or two occasions.

The former India cricketer referred to the case of Parthiv Patel who too was drafted in the team at an young age but was then dropped due to poor performances.

Dasgupta pointed out that keeping against spinners on Indian surfaces is always a daunting task and it can’t get more challenging than this. He feels that the keeper needs to pick things up from here.

At the same time, Dasgupta praised Pant for his talent and abilities. He stated that Rishabh is young, so it is important that he is properly guided and is given the time. He explained that the team management cannot afford to just pick him suddenly and drop him after a few matches.
