The second Test between India and Australia took place in Delhi. The game again was ended in three days as it was yet again an Indian dominated game. The Rohit Sharma-led side made mockery of the opposition with both bat and ball and crushed them by 6 wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a much better performance for them than the last game as they batted reasonably well. Usman Khawaja gave his team a great start as he scored 81 runs at the top.
He was complimented well by Peter Handscomb, who scored unbeaten 72 runs, and skipper Pat Cummins, who chipped in with 33 run knock as Australia posted a total of 263 runs on the board. For India, Mohammad Shami took four wickets whereas R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bagged three wickets each.
India the founded it difficult to get going with the bat but a few handy knocks in 33 by skipper Rohit Sharma, 44 by Virat Kohli kept them in tone hunt. But it was yet again Axar Patel, who set the stage on fire with the bat as he scored 74 runs to take India to the total of 262 runs. Nathan Lyon troubled India as he picked his five-wicket haul.
It was a horrendous outing for Australia in the second innings as they were bundled out for just 113 runs. Jadeja returned with his career-best figures of 7/42 as India folded out Australia in a short span of time. The Pat Cummins-led side lost 9 wickets for just 53 runs on ten Day 3. On the other hand Ashwin returned with the figures of 3/59 as India set themselves a target of 115 runs.
Chasing the target, India lost KL Rahul early. But skipper Rohit Sharma activated his beast mode as he came out with positive intent and smashed bowlers all over the park. He was going all guns blazing with his 31-run knock from 20 balls but a mix up between him and Cheteshwar Pujara saw him back in the hut.
Pujara and Virat Kohli then held their nerves well and batted sensibly to guide their team home. The duo staggeringly crafted their innings and along with defending the ball well they took the aerial route as well before Kohli was stumped for just 20 runs. Shreyas Iyer was in a hurry to finish the game but he too perished for 12 runs. In the end it was Pujara, who scored unbeaten 31 runs along with KS Bharat (23*) guided his side home to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was awarded Player of the Match in the first Test between India and Australia. In what was his second match for India after six months, the southpaw contributed staggeringly well with both bat and ball. He returned with his career-best figures of 7/42 in the second innings and complimented his three wickets well, taking ten-wicket haul in the match. He also contributed with the bat and bagged his second Player of the Match award.Ā
