Suryakumar Yadav IND vs AUS: The important news coming from the Indian team is that they are not playing middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav in the IND vs AUS 2023 2nd Test match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India took a 1-0 lead in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 four-match Test series after they defeated Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the first Test match. The Indian team need to win this Test series by a big margin in order to seal a place in this year’s ICC World Test Championship final.
IND vs AUS: Why is Suryakumar Yadav Not Playing Today’s India vs Australia 2nd Test?
After having recovered completely from his back injury, Shreyas Iyer straightaway walks back into the India playing 11 for the second Test match against Australia. Unfortunately, Suryakumar Yadav has been dropped after making his long-awaited Test debut in Nagpur where he managed to score just 8 runs off 20 balls while batting in the middle-order. However, Iyer has scored a lot of runs on consistent basis during his short Test career so far with a total of 624 runs from 8 Tests at an average of over 56 that includes as many as 5 fifties and only one hundred. The right-hander also scored a couple of crucial half-centuries during the two-match Test series in Bangladesh.
“We’d have batted first as well. The pitch is dry, but I think the application we showed last game put the toss away from the game. You just have to come out and play good cricket, and that’s been the chat in the group to not worry about the toss. (On Pujara’s 100th Test) We are all thrilled for him, his family is here as well. 100 Test matches isn’t easy, there have been plenty of ups and downs in his career. One change for us – Shreyas Iyer is in for Surya,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
