Shreyas Iyer IND vs AUS: The biggest setback for the Team India camp is that their in-form batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out from the first Test match against Australia being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The Indian team recently whitewashed Bangladesh 2-0 during their last Test assignment in December 2022. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian side will want to win this Border Gavaskar Trophy in order to book a place in the final of this year’s ICC World Test Championship.
IND vs AUS: Why is Shreyas Iyer is Not Playing Today’s India vs Australia 1st Test?
Just before the start of the ODI series against New Zealand earlier last month, India’s premier middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of contention due to a back injury. The same injury successively ruled him out for atleast the opening Test match against Australia. The right-hander has played a lot of crucial knocks especially in Test cricket for the Indian team during the recent while and is a very good player to counter the spinners. In his short Test career, Iyer has scored a total of 624 runs from as many as 7 Test matches at an average of over 56 that includes five half-centuries and one hundred.
