There has been a lot of anticipation over the first test between India and Australia. India don’t have as much as their 3 first choice players who are missing out due to injuries. The Indian playing 11 is at prime focus ahead of the first test and Dinesh Karthik has tweeted his playing 11 for India for the first match.
IND vs AUS 1st test: No place for Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is in the form of his life although it is in white ball cricket, he looks in dreamy touch at the moment. He is fresh from a scintillating century against New Zealand in the T20s. He also scored a double century before that in the ODI series. India won’t be having the services of Shreyas Iyer atleast for the first test as he has been ruled out due to back injury.
As far as the top 6 is concerned, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli have locked their place in the side. Things would have gotten interesting had Shreyas Iyer been fit for this game who would have slotted at #5. KL Rahul who has reinvented his test game isn’t a popular choice among experts because of his poor recent scores in tests.
Dinesh Karthik has gone with KL Rahul for the opening spot which isn’t surprising to say the least. But what came as a surprise was his preference for the replacement of Shreyas Iyer. The RCB wicket keeper has gone to Suryakumar Yadav instead of Shubman Gill for the #5 spot. This has taken everyone by surprise but it is not hard to understand his inclusion because of his counter attacking ability as India lacks two such players in Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant who were doing that successfully throughout the last 1 and a half year or so.

K S Bharat pips Ishan Kishan in Dinesh Karthik’s 11
It is a known fact that Rishabh Pant is out of action and India have picked K S Bharat and Ishan Kishan as the wicket keeping options, and Dinesh Karthik has opted for the experience of K S Bharat for the first test.
