Women’s Premier League first match: In what is expected to be a revolutionary step in India women cricket history, the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), also known as the Women’s IPL, is slated for this year. The five teams that will participate in the first edition of the WPL have already been chosen, with Capri Global team will be called Lucknow Warriors and the Adani Sportsline franchise to be named Gujarat Giants. The player auction is eagerly awaited by fans and is expected to take place this month.

According to speculated reports, the first season of the WPL will take place from March 4 to 26. It is expected to be hosted entirely in Mumbai at the CCI and DY Patil Stadium. The first match is expected to be between the Mumbai and Ahmedabad teams (Gujarat Giants), as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) eager to start the tournament with a match between the teams of two of India’s biggest businessmen, Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani.
As per Cricbuzz, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning a blockbuster opening for the Women’s Premier League (WPL). A tentative schedule, being circulated among the relevant authorities of the yet-to-be-launched league, says the first match will be between Team Mumbai and Team Ahmedabad on March 4 (Saturday).
Tentative reports suggest, the WPL will be a five-team league with 22 games and five days off between March 4 and 26. The Eliminator is scheduled for March 24 in CCI, and the final round is scheduled for March 26 at the DY Patil stadium. The road to playoffs is still unclear, but three teams will probably make it to the playoffs. The top team will directly enter the final and the second and third-placed teams playing in the Eliminator.
