IND vs NZ: Why is Yuzvendra Chahal Not Playing India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I?

With the series on the line, both the teams have made a change to their side looking at the conditions that are on offer here at Ahmedabad. New Zealand won the first game quite comprehensively and India won the 2nd game quite comprehensively although the scorecard would suggest otherwise. The pitch for the previous 2 games were not easy to bat but the wicket at Ahmedabad is expected to play well.
IND vs NZ: Yuzvendra Chahal is benched for Umran Malik
India brought in the leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the previous game in Lucknow. That wicket had lots of turn and India decided to replace the Speedster Umran Malik who would have been not much of a use in that wicket.
They have followed the similar approach for the 3rd T20I as well, where they have brought back Umran Malik in place of Yuzvendra Chahal. The pitch at Ahmedabad has shown in the past that the fast bowlers will find good carry on it. It is a wise decision to bring back Umran Malik.
“ Umran Malik comes in for Yuzvendra Chahal because this surface looks like it will help the fast bowlers ,” Hardik Pandya said at the toss.
Can Indian batsmen fire at the top?
Indian top 3 has been a disappointment in this series so far. Although the wicket has been a difficult one to bat, the current openers didn’t play well in the previous series against Sri Lanka as well. India don’t play any T20s in the near future after this game and the likes of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan would want to end the T20 season on a high. There will be massive competition for the openers’s spot after the IPL and it is important for the present openers to grab the opportunity with both the hands.
