Prithvi Shaw IND vs NZ: In a crucial news update, India are still not playing young opening batsman Prithvi Shaw in the second T20I match against New Zealand scheduled to be hosted at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After defeating Sri Lanka both in the T20I and ODI series, the Men in Blue whitewashed New Zealand in the three-match ODI series but the hosts succumbed to a poor 21-run loss in the opening T20I on Friday.
IND vs NZ: Why is Prithvi Shaw Not Playing Today’s India vs New Zealand 2nd T20I?
During the toss, India’s T20I captain Hardik Pandya mentioned that they are playing with an unchanged batting combination in this second T20I match against New Zealand. This also means that Prithvi Shaw will once again be warming the bench and wait some more for his opportunity. Before the opening T20I against the Kiwi side, Hardik had already cleared the fact that Shubman Gill will start as the opener in this three-match T20I series as the right-hander has looked in a superb form during the ODI matches. However, Prithvi made a comeback into the Indian team after scoring loads of runs in domestic cricket across formats. In the first T20I against New Zealand, Ishan Kishan scored just 4 runs while Shubman got out after scoring 7 runs.
“We were also thinking about batting first. It can’t difficult than this in a bilateral series, looking forward to this game. We are going to make mistakes and we’ll learn from them. It might turn. Umran misses out, Yuzi comes in,” said Indian captain Hardik Pandya at the toss.
