Yuzvendra Chahal IND vs SL: The massive breaking news is that India’s premier spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is unavailable for selection in the second ODI match against Sri Lanka scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series with a pretty convincing 67-run win against Sri Lanka in the first ODI game on Tuesday. The Men in Blue now have a great opportunity to seal the ODI series in their favour.

IND vs SL: Why is Yuzvendra Chahal Not Playing Today’s India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Match? 

After losing the toss and being asked to bowl first, India captain Rohit Sharma revealed the big update that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was not available for selection due to injury. The right-arm leggie is struggling with a sore right shoulder and he sustained the injury while diving in the outfield during the IND vs SL 1st ODI in Guwahati. Chahal ended with figures of 1 for 58 from his quota of 10 overs in the previous game against the Lanka side. On the other hand, India have brought in left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav in the playing 11 for the second ODI.

“I was in two minds. Wanted to bat first because of how we played last time, but looking at this ground, I wanted to field. Overall, improvements are as a team, nothing in particular. What we’ve done in the past is in the past, we need to look ahead and keep doing better. I love playing here, the crowd is also energetic and that motivates me always. But it is in the past, I need to start fresh. One enforced change for us, Chahal in the last game put in a dive and hasn’t recovered well today, so Kuldeep Yadav comes in,” said India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss.
