India World Cup Squad: 20 Probables Player List for 2023 World Cup

The BCCI conducted a review meeting on the 1^st of January, 2023, to analyse the semi final exit of the recently concluded T20 world cup in Australia. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and the present chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma were present at the meeting. It was known that, a lot of emphasis was given on the workload management of the players with IPL coming up and several first choice players are injured at the moment.

India is a country with wide pool of talents and it is important to select the top players in that to make sure they are given ample practice before the main event. In the review meeting, it was said that the management had selected a list of 20 men to keep close eye on them who in all probability could make the world cup squad as well, eventually.

Although the names of the 20 men were not disclosed, one can predict the list considering the players who have been given a long rope by the Indian team in this format of the game.

Hardik Pandya is the only genuine pace bowling all rounder available in India at the moment. The next best options are Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. There is a massive drop in quality but that’s all India have. When it comes to spin bowling all rounder, India have 3 quality ones in Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

When it comes to wrist spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal still stand as the best available options in the country in 50 overs format.
