Australia’s senior pacer Mitchell Starc injured his left middle finger while bowling during the first innings of the recently concluded second Test match against South Africa. Starc did return to bowl in the second innings but was seen in a lot of pain and is now likely to miss the opening Test match against India starting from 9 February, 2023. However, the goods news is that Australian pace bowler Josh Hazlewood is completely fit and available for selection in the third and final Test against the Proteas. The hosts can also handover a Test debut to tearaway fast bowler Lance Morris who can extract some extra pace from the Sydney wicket.
On the other hand, Australia have included both Matt Renshaw and Ashton Agar in the squad for the final Test match against South Africa.
